STANDARD PRODUCT - CONSTRUCTION METHODS

1. Joinery - Mortise and tenon (1), glued under pressure and re-enforced with screws. Parting rails are used between each drawer and in the middle of the case pieces (2). Solid wood blocks are glued and screwed into all corners for reinforcement (3). The backs are 1/4" or 3/4" veneer core plywood, and are held into place with a dado groove (4) and glue blocks.

2. Drawer Construction- Only solid hardwood is used for drawer fronts, sides, and backs. The drawer sides and back are 5/8" thick with finger dovetail in the rear (1) while the front has a French dovetail (2). The drawer bottom is 1/4" plywood inserted with a dado groove and glue blocks (3). The drawer is suspended on 100lb. test epoxy coated steel runners (4).

3. Materials- DCI uses Northern grown red oak. NO RAINFOREST SPECIES ARE ALLOWED.

4. Finishing- Ultraviolet (UV) finish is used on all surfaces, including internal and unexposed. UV Finish is the hardest finish available to wood (same finish used on hardwood floors). UV Finish is also environmentally friendly because there is NO hazardous air pollutants (HAPS).
