STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS
CONSTRUCTION:
JOINTS: All shall be pressed and/or clamped with sufficient pressure to insure maximum glue penetration and sound bonding. Every joint in every section of the frame shall be assembled under clamps and/or air presses.
RAILS: All shall be connected to end panels with mortise and tenon joints or dowels and secured with glue and screws. There shall be a front rail at each drawer level and a rail mid way between the front and back at mid level and below the bottom drawer.
CORNER BLOCKS: All shall be glued and fastened with screws.
BACK PANEL: It shall be fitted into grooves in end panels, top back rail and bottom back rail and glued.
EXPANSION CLEATS: All shall be fastened to end panels with screws.
TOP: Top shall be fastened as follows:
Front frame rail with screws.
End panel cleats with screws.
Corner blocks with screws.
LAMINATE TOPS: All laminate tops shall be 3/4" PBC with .050" horizontal grade high pressure laminate and industry approved backer. All shall be internally edgebanded on all four sides with solid specie hardwood.
DRAWER CONSTRUCTION: Drawer sides and front shall be joined with French dovetails and drawer sides and back shall be joined with full 3/8" finger dovetails on 1" centers. Dovetails shall be tight and well fitted.
Drawer suspensions shall be fastened to end panels and drawer sides with 1/2" #6 screws (12 per pair).
MATERIALS:
EXPOSED COMPONENTS: All sides, exposed rails, tops , bottoms, shelves and drawer fronts shall be solid maple, solid white ash or solid red oak stained to match approved color samples unless otherwise specified. All exposed parts shall be northern grown, of select quality, free of defects that impair appearance and serviceability. All shall be fully seasoned and kiln dried to moisture content of 5 to 7%. All parts shall be bright and well sanded and have no brashness, discoloration, worm holes, splits, shakes, or other defects that could adversely affect appearance or serviceability.
UNEXPOSED COMPONENTS: All internal rails, blocks, cleats, drawer sides and drawer backs, shall be solid northern grown hardwoods that may contain some small defects such as pin?knots, sapwood, or mineral streaks provided that strength is not affected.
CASE BACKS: finished veneer core plywood. Grade A-1.
DRAWER BOTTOMS: 1/4" 5-ply hardwood plywood.
DOORS: All doors shall be plain sliced veneer over MDF with 1/4" external 3/4" solid lumber band on all exposed edges.
SCREWS: Lo-root hardened screws used to fasten all rails and corner blocks.
ADHESIVE: High strength catalyzed PVA Franklin Multibond F or equal. Exceeds ASTMD905. Block Shear Strength 2800 pounds per square inch minimum.
ADJUSTABLE SHELF SUPPORTS: Nickel plated with 1/4" stem.
WIRE MANAGEMENT: 2 1/4" captured rubber grommet. NERAC NMM671.5 or equal for back and NERAC NMM671.75 or equal for shelves.
HINGES: 270 degree but hinges. (3 per door)
WIRE DOOR PULLS: Brass plated wire pull.
FLAP HINGE: Wood Tech 0921 or equal.
TACK GLIDES: Single prong nylon 5/8" glides.
ADJUSTABLE GLIDES: 1 1/2" x 3/8", #16 adjustable glide with T-nut.
HASPS AND SCUFF PLATES: All shall be brass plated with clear coat, hasps #DCI71118 and #DCI71122 and screw-on scuff plate #DCI71123
BARREL BOLT: Edelin heavy-duty barrel bolt.
FLAP SUPPORT: HAFELE 365.86.115 or equal.
CLOSET ROD: All shall be 14-gauge steel plated to resist corrosion.
MIRROR: 15" x 22" polished edges, ANSI backed (safety glass), Category II.
TOWEL BARS AND BRACKETS: 15" bar and brackets, chrome plated.
DRAWER GLIDE SYSTEM: Cold rolled steel, epoxy coated, heavy duty, 100 lb/pair load capacity, nylon wheel, positive closing, positive stop in extended open and fully closed position drawer glide - Fulterer 1020 or equal.
TASK LIGHT: 24" fluorescent bulb, preheat ballast, rocker switch, white acrylic diffuser, grounded convenience outlet and 10' cord. Specialty Lighting FP3290 or equal.
